Two years ago this week, before COVID-19, we ran an art and craft workshop to support a local Alzheimer’s group. It was themed to Diwali and we made colourful lanterns to tie in with the celebrations.
Art can benefit people with dementia by feeling more socially included, enhancing cognitive capacity with an improved quality of life. Art can also help people with mental health problems, which include improved communication skills, self esteem and behavioural change.
We hope that now restrictions are being lifted across the UK, we can continue our support with similar things very soon. Fingers crossed!
