The Sime Gallery

After Sidney Sime’s death his widow, Mary, a talented miniaturist artist, bequeathed his artworks and possessions to the Worplesdon Memorial Hall for the creation of a gallery solely to display her husband’s work.

In total there are over 500 catalogued items, including 88 works on display. These feature large fantastical paintings, landscapes in oil and watercolour, theatrical sketches, and caricatures of local Worplesdon residents.

The gallery also contains some furniture used frequently by Sime: a gateleg table, which contains two portfolios of his work; a Windsor chair; and a tallboy containing his original sketch books, numerous oil paintings, etchings, watercolour sketches, drawings and caricatures, and press cuttings.

We are committed to preserve and promote the artworks of Sidney H Sime by creating a vibrant, local, heritage Art Centre for the education and enjoyment of all.

The Sime Gallery is a registered charity, number 1188534.

The Sime Gallery is situated within Worplesdon Memorial Hall
