National Volunteers’ Week

The Sime Gallery has had brilliant volunteers for many years. 1st to 7th June is Volunteers’ Week, so what better way to show our appreciation.

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your local community.  Our volunteers are not all local to Worplesdon. However each and everyone gives so much to the Sime Gallery whether it’s advise, professional expertise, being an enthusiastic guide to tell visitors about Sime work, making cups of tea or cakes, small jobs, planting up planters, researching, transcribing letters, advertising events, giving talks.

We have the most dedicated volunteers who are not only thanked on national volunteer week 1-7 June but everyone who does anything is valued for their commitment and enthusiasm. Our longest serving volunteer has been with us since opening in 1956 and will always be an asset to the Sime Gallery.
Shown above: Marjorie, trustee and volunteer to welcome and inform visitors, both in the gallery and tea room; and David, who has volunteered in the gallery for a number of years with his warm friendly manner and valuable contribution.
Shown above: Denis Stewart, who has done so many DIY jobs – nothing is too much trouble; and Stephen Cranstone, busy talking about Worplesdon caricatures to visitors back in 2019. He has done extensive research on all. With many hours of voluntary service for the benefit of the gallery.
